Purpose/Usage
The human body is composed of water and oil soluble states in which many metabolic reactions occur. Both water and oil soluble vitamins and other essential nutrients are important in driving these metabolic reactions in the tissues and cells. Uncontrolled oxidative reactions can be damaging to tissues and cells and this process may be described as Free Radical Damage. These free radicals may be a significant causative factor in long term aging and disease. Ideally we should have an optimum diet using fruit and green leafy vegetables to help combat oxidative free radical build-up. At times it can be useful to use antioxidants that have known beneficial properties to boost antioxidant status. Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) is unique in its ability to act as an antioxidant in fat (or oil) and water-soluble environments.
Precautions
Alpha Lipoic Acid may cause stomach discomfort in some individuals, therefore it should be taken with food. Note: When using high doses of Alpha Lipoic Acid (more than 100mg daily), then 50mg of vitamin B1 daily should be taken at the same time.
Medicines have benefits and some may have risks. Always read the label
carefully and use strictly as directed. If symptoms continue or you have
side effects consult your pharmacist or doctor immediately.
