Most topical corticosteriods are prescription products, but Becoderm-C Flare-Up (0.05% clobetasone butyrate) now joins 1% hydrocortisone as an OTC cream for the treatment of eczema flare up.
Purpose/Usage
A more effective treament for eczema and dermatitis. Becoderm-C has been specially formulated to break the itchy-scratch cycle and clear flare-ups in as little as 5 days. Becoderm-C is now available from your Pharmacist and is the most effective topical corticosteroid treament for eczema that you can get without a prescription. Also called dermatitis, eczema is a very common skin condition, characterised by red and itchy skin rash. Eczema symptoms generally come and go, with sufferers experiencing 3-4 'flare-ups' each year where symptoms become more intense and the areas affected get more irritated.
There are number of triggers that may cause an eczema flare-up:Internal triggers:
- Family history (history of eczema, asthma, or hayfever)
- Particular foods (wheat, dairy, citrus, eggs, nuts, seafood, preservatives, colourings)
- Stress
External triggers:
-Irritants (tobacca smoke, chemicals, weather, air conditioning)
-Everday substances (soap, perfume, shampoo, washing poweder, metals in clothing and jewellery)
-Allergens (dust mits, moulds, grass, pets)
The goal of any eczema flare-up treatment is to break the itch-scratch cycle, which encourages healing and prevents further damage.
